Sycamore Woods Turning is owned by Rachel Smith and operates out of Hillsborough, North Carolina.
My work and form are simple; sometimes modern and other times primitive. I find it important to let the wood speak for itself in shape, all the way through finishing.
It is important to me to only used sustainably-sourced or found wood. I prefer to only take from the forest, what has already been offered. Mostly I use found wood from my property or fallen limbs and trees from my local area. If I cannot forage for wood, I strive to only purchase wood that was sustainably harvested.
I hope my work will be used and loved in your home for years.
Care for your wood item
I only use non-toxic, food safe finish on all my products, keeping in mind the integrity of the tree, the way nature intended, and your well-being while using my pieces in your home.
To keep your item looking well and protected for years to come, I recommend re-finishing your item every so often, depending on your use.
